Some of my good Friends

I was looking at railways and I visited the famous David Curwen and bought his book---I have since found his website for his book, www.stationaryenginebooks.co.uk/curwen.htm , Here in Iran we have no railways, sadly.
during my last trip to the U.K I met the famous miniature locomotive builder David Curwen who is 94 years old and still engineering.

I saw his workshop where he made 25 locomotives since the 1950s and I now have his new book RULE OF THUMB in which he tells his life story and about building many locomotives.
It is wonderful to meet a great engineer from the U.K!

During my stay in the UK I visited David Edgington the well-known stationary engine author and enthusiast. Last year I sent him some walnuts to plant in his garden--when I arrived I was surprised to see he had many growing in pots. A small part of Tehran is growing in Westbury. He is a very private person and does not see many visitors, so I was very happy to be invited to call on him.
It was the first meeting with Richard Traves on his historical boat in the Grand Canion canal! it was also my first trip on a British canal with passing from 7 gates!! they are many historical boats that are powered by Lister JP 2&3 and they are working very well .Richard was happy to receive some parts for his Lister JP that I had bought them from Tehran for him! Richard asked me to export some more parts of JP engines !
John Edwards that helped me alot during my last visit from Internal Fire Museum is one of the Internal Fire Museum friends. I saw him busy all time the same as other Museum friends!
Our famous editor that is the most strongest man that I know ! he is a man with great aims that most of us couldnot think about them!
God bless him.

Abo Taleb is another friend of mine. He is a driver of a big American 204 Tons crane . During last year we were overhauling this big crane ,unfortunatly we didnot receive any help from the American dealer.

Abo Taleb worked on this crane 30 years ago, without his experience we could not have completed the job.

We eventually sourced parts from other more helpful American companies.- thank you to them all.

In this picture, the crane is being driven by Abo Taleb. He is moving a 120 Ton gearbox after our overhaul !! This American crane is very powerful and I am sure that only American could make this type of machine!

Abo always shouts "Well done to the American!"

Gol Ahmad is our Afghan workman for the last 10 years!

Despite bad things said about our countries, I have found Afghans in Iran and around the world a very honest and hard working group of guys!

I am in debt of Gol Ahmad and other Afghan workmen in our workshop for their patience in hard conditions that some times we have in some big overhauling projects

This is my friend George Breckenridge.

George is my best friend in the U.S ! he is also very active retired engineer that had many traveles around the world and was in many big wars during last years!

As I know It is more than one decade that George and his friends were(are) working on some research projects regarding replacment fuels for diesel engines.

For more informations about George you could visit his valuable website www.utterpower.com
